Unknown Pleasures. Visual representation of analogue wavelengths, this is one of my bigger canvases. Joy division’s artwork on the cover of Unknown pleasures was a visual representation of the radio waves received from a dying star, I have also seen that type of analogue line chart used in films with lie detector machines. I just thought I would have a bit of fun with it and colourise it.
I am lucky to of been aware of punk derived music when it came out, I have an older brother who would buy loads of records and let me tape them, I was 6 when punk arrived on the scene, what can I say but ‘Never mind the bollocks’ was my mission statement, best record ever made. I love the punk mentality of make your own fashion, sounds and imagery.
